Using a Camera or SmartPhone with a GPS

If you don’t have an iPhone or fancy schmancy GPS unit, there are other ways to get a GPS trail so that you can upload it to Trekkit.

Camera

Some new cameras actually have the GPS built right in. One example is the Canon SX230 .

The complete manual is available here, but very simply you can turn the camera on, go to the menu, then to tools and scroll to GPS settings. from there you can turn on the GPS Trail.

After you complete your Trail, you can upload the Trekk as per normal along with your pictures.

Other Smart Phones

Just because you don’t have an iPhone doesn’t mean you can’t use Trekkit. You can still use the built in GPS of a Windows Phone or a BlackBerry to take pictures and have them GeoTagged.

You won’t get the Trail when you upload to Trekkit, but you can still capture your adventure until a version of the TrekkTrakker is available for your phone.
